The outcome of a battle depends on many factors, including the strength and morale of each army, their composition, commander martial and ability, the local terrain, modifiers such as discipline and experience, pure luck, and more. Once engaged in battle, both sides will fight and deal damage to each other's strength and morale until one side is either forced to retreat or completely destroyed.
